Participants downloaded the Strava app on their phones and, the number of kilometers (walking or cycling) was recorded on the system. The data was updated regularly and sent to all employees every week. For every 10km of exercise, one tree was planted. After 17 weeks, the combined walking and cycling was equivalent to 29,461km, exceeding the program’s initial goal of only 10,000km – equal to 1,000 trees. This was a major success and helped to promote cohesion and create motivation to improve fitness among all employees, whilst protecting the environment.
